Skin Resolution

January 1, 2012

How many of us tackle our skin problems from the inside? As we continue on with our In to Out Series, I’d like to share with you all my conversation with Dr. Agnes Olszewski of the Herborium Group, Inc. on the age-old condition of acne. Dr. Olszewski believes and I concur that acne is an internal condition that should be treated as such, with natural, botanical substances.

Please remember:
1) ***Our intention, through this series, is to help others to live a whole life in a healthy manner – not to treat any condition. **
2) All features are accessible throughout the feature series.

What is your official title and brief background?
Dr. Agnes  P. Olszewski  (MBA, Phd.) I am Chief Executive Officer and Chairwomen of Herborium Group, Inc. with20+ years experience in global business strategies with a focus on healthcare. I also have extensive experience in bridging western medicine and the unique benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

What inspired you to produce a product like AcnEase®? How long has AcnEase® been on the market?
AcnEase® is a proprietary product which means it was developed as a scientific breakthrough and there is no other like it.  AcnEase® is based on a fusion of the principles of the Traditional Chinese Medicine  (TCM) and modern pharmacological and herbaceutical science. I have worked as an international consultant for the pharmaceutical industry for years, and had the opportunity to take a close look into serious Traditional Chinese Medicine. As a result, knowing both sides of a coin so to speak, I decided that it is time to de-mystify TCM while maintaining its value and adding the rigors of the western science. This way we can bring the best of both worlds to patients and consumers who can benefit from it.

Acne and other skin problems was my target, because I knew that with the exception to Accutane (a product with many very serious side effects), there is NOTHING there that really helps. In addition, acne is often considered not a “really serious health problem”, and this is wrong. Acne is not only a manifestation of an internal imbalance but also a cause of suffering and many personal problems. Therefore, we need to treat it seriously, effectively, and safely. Here comes AcnEase® It was first introduced on a limited scale in the USA in 2002, brought to Europe in 2004,and since 2006 is being used and praised in over 40 countries in America, Europe and Asia.

Who benefits from the use of AcnEase®? Is it for severe acne conditions?
This unique, all botanical/herbal ingredients based acne treatment works in several ways: most importantly -AcnEase PREVENTS the forming of new pimples, whiteheads and blackheads, and significantly reduces existing symptoms associated with Adult Acne, Cystic Acne, Hormonal Acne, Teen Acne, and Body Acne. AcnEase will also balance over oily skin and can even help too oily or over-dry breaking hair (not when chemically destroyed). AcnEase also displays healing properties in case of acne scars and prevents new scars from forming.

It works for teens, and adults- both women and men and for individuals with light and dark complexions.

AcnEase® www.acnease.com works for severe cases of cystic or hormonal adult acne that are the hardest to deal with. Obviously the more severe the case of acne and the longer someone suffered from the acne problems, the longer the regimen that is needed to clear the skin completely. However, even in those severe cases we usually start seeing an improvement within 14 days.

What causes acne?
Acne is a medical condition not just a “teenage problem” and people as old as 50+ may suffer from acne.

Acne results from overproduction of sebum (skin oil) by our sebaceous glances and subsequent bacterial growth and inflammation that results from the mixing of this extra oil with dirt and bacteria in our pores, or/and at the bottom of hair follicles.

Acne is NOT caused by food or stress alone but may be exasperated by certain foods or may be better managed by proper diet and lifestyle.

Do you have a recommendation for the discoloration that keratosis pilaris or acne leaves on darker skin?
I would be careful to combine both symptoms.  Acne discolorations may result from two different causes:  lighter spots may be left by the reaction to topical products, especially those that contain benzyl peroxide, salicylic acid or Retinoids. Dark spots are actual acne scars or marks lefts by large cysts or persistent, chronic or severe acne.

The best way to prevent acne related discolorations is an effective way of managing acne symptoms and PREVENTING new acne from forming. Acne is often associated with the oily skin.

Keratosis pilaris is a skin condition in which a protein in the skin called keratin forms hard plugs within hair follicles. Dark spots represent “scars” that result from some cells actually dying in the process. Since KP is commonly associated with dry skin (that is why it may get worse in the winter) topical use of vitamin D or natural/organic moisturizers may be helpful.

How should we naturally even our skintone? I have KP and have been successful at controlling it topically; however there is still the issue of the dark spots.
In general there are 4 things that may help:

  1. Natural exfoliation (reference link above)
  2. Natural moisturizers ( see above)
  3. Make-up
  4. Prevent the cause of discoloration such as acne, making sure that the proper products are used to begin with (www.acnease.com).

Can we prevent the scarring caused by acne?
The truth is NOT pretty. The only way to PREVENT scarring is to PREVENT acne from coming, especially cysts or chronic acne that destroys the cells the most.

Does AcnEase® help with acne that appears on the scalp (head) – sometimes after a close hair cut?
Yes, it helps with all types of acne.  However, not all pimples are actually acne; we can have hives (allergy for some hair products) or even infection from pulling the hair, scalp nicks from clippers, and bruises. So the proper diagnosis is important.

Is AcnEase® safe for teenagers?
Absolutely.  AcnEase is actually safe for everyone even nursing mothers.  The only mild reaction (some hives) we have ever seen was in an individual suffering from an EXTREME allergy for wheat.  A very thin coating that makes the product easy to swallow contains dextrin that is made using a minimal amount of wheat. Please note that this mild  and short-term reaction was noted in one individual only while over half a million people used AcnEase  to date with great results. Compared to the number of people who get redness and sensitivity after using the topical products on the market, this is a most positive result. Again, we wanted the product to be 100% natural and 100% plant-based so this is by far the best option in terms of coatings.

Where can we get more information about AcnEase®?
www.acnease.com

Please share with us your best beauty secret.
No matter how late I return home, how tired, sick or happy I am, I NEVER go to bed without removing my make-up, and using at least the basic moisturizer.

What is your favorite spa indulgence?
Goat butter body wraps. Yes, please do not laugh. Cleopatra clearly knew what she was doing. It gives me soft and supple skin for days.
