Summer Cold Relief

This week has been quite a challenge with work, work and more work, but TGIF!! We’ve perservered. Then in the midst of all of the busy-ness, I managed to catch a not so friendly bug. Headache, body aches, sore throat, and chills. Actually, it started on Monday with incessant sneezing, then the other symptoms kicked in yesterday afternoon. Now I am blessed to say that I feel MUCH better. How did I do it? So glad you asked.

Being a tea drinker for a long time now,  I love going to my local farmer’s market and choosing from a wide variety of loose leaves from different regions.  As you may already know, there are many types of teas, and they carry an abundance of beneficial antioxidants (think great skin) and other health benefits. They taste wonderful, and you don’t have to be a pharmacist to put together the ones you want.

Try this blend for summer cold relief:

Marshmallow Root (sore throat)
Chamomile (calming effect for rest)
Jasmine (soothing aromatherapy)
Hibiscus (rich in Vitamin C and adds a beautiful red hue to your tea).
Touch of honey

Of special note, hibiscus tea is proven to lower blood pressure AND cholesterol in people with Type II Diabetes.

    Hibiscus makes a yummy sweet tea (for the southerners that want to add a twist to a traditional drink).
